It was Easter day, and we make a quick run to the local store to buy some sweet buttery rolls while Ma monitored the ham situation.
Suddenly, an Allroad pulls up and parks across from us.
Me: "Ever since I was in middle school, I've always wanted to own one of those."
Him: "What, the Ford?"
Me: "No, that allroad."
He scans the lot and sees it.
Him: "Ahh. Yeah I would love to own one. They look great, but..."
He then sighs.
"... They're not very... Reliable."
Even my own father is aware of the allroad reputation.
This is the same man who said that his '80(81?) Audi 4000 was best car he's ever owned.
Maybe I'll shop for one of those instead.

At this rate every car I wilk ever own is going to end up being something with a Toyota R-series engine. I just bought a house so one-time dream of owning an allroad or 8-series or 944 is kind of *whoosh* no mas.

2.7s are wicked fun when they work. Also they arent too expensive to own. Best part about audis is that most parts are used over many models/brands(unlike bmw, volvo, merc), so sourcing parts is super easy and cheap (if you know where to look). A buddy of mine just picked up a complete motor for 500.

Since with the allroad, you get the double dose of the APB 2.7T engine *and* the wonky air suspension... Both are great...when they work...and have the capability to be stupidly expensive when they don't (ahem, engine pull to replace turbos, and yes, that is the factory provided procedure).
One or the other is reasonable (allroad 4.2, or S4 Avant), but both requires a certain level of LSD to consider it a reasonable option.
Disclaimer: I track an S4 sedan with the APB engine.
